Kate Siems has been a board certified physician assistant since 2008. Kate obtained a biology degree from Baylor University where she graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 and received the excellence in biology award. A year later Kate moved to Houston to attend PA school at Baylor College of Medicine. During her training she had the opportunity to conduct her research in the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India discovering the most common diseases affecting a number of remote trans-Himalayan communities. Kate graduated from BCM with honors in 2007 and was awarded the Henry D. McIntosh Award as the graduate who achieved the highest degree of academic excellence and service and who best exemplified the concept of the physician assistant.
Kate has spent a large portion of her career to this point in family medicine in Waco where she did both obstetric and gynecologic care as well as caring for the entire family. Kate has a passion for women’s health and feels honored to get to offer compassionate and excellent care to her patients.
In addition to working in Waco, Kate has spent 2 years living in Haiti after the devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010. She feels humbled to have been able to walk alongside Haitians in a time of such immense suffering and pain. During this time she was able to provide medical care weekly at an established clinic and also able to train and equip Haitian medical providers in the diagnosis and treatment of the most common illnesses that present to the outpatient clinic. Kate spent time being a part of developing holistic community health initiatives as well. She had the added joy of meeting her husband while she was in Haiti!
Kate joined the CWCC team in 2017. She practices with Dr. Jurney at the medical center location seeing pregnant patients as well as gynecologic patients for well-woman and problem visits. Patients coming to see Dr. Jurney for their pregnancy meet with Kate for their initial consultation, exam, screening labs, and ultrasound.
In her free time, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and their young son. They enjoy taking trips to the park, zoo and children’s museum. She enjoys sports, travel, cultural diversity and hanging out with family and friends.
