Dr. Songsangkhan was born and raised in Thailand. Given that she was the first child and it’s common for parents to give their children nicknames, her parents gave her the nickname “Best.” When Dr. Songsangkhan moved to Texas, her friends could not say her first name so Best has stuck until now. Even at work, most people call her “Dr. Best or Dr. Song.”
Dr. Songsangkhan went to Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) and graduated with Honors. She attended Texas A&M University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and minor in Business Administration.
She then went on to receive her Medical Doctorate at Texas A&M University College of Medicine in 2014. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas at Houston in 2018 and received the Outstanding Chief Resident Award and Best Resident Teacher to Medical Students Award. She served as an Assistant Professor at University of Texas at Houston after her residency training before deciding to pursue private practice.
Dr. Songsangkhan enjoys getting to know her patients and their family. She chose obstetrics and gynecology specialty because it allows her to follow her patients through different stages of their lives. She is trained in minimally invasive procedures and is certified in daVinci robotic surgery. Her clinical interests include general obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, adolescent health, and contraception.
Dr. Songsangkhan is on staff at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys trying out new restaurants, Zumba, and traveling.
