Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith is Board Certified in Obstetrics
and Gynecology and has been in practice in Houston since 1999. After
graduating from the University of Houston she attended Baylor College
of Medicine and completed her residency training at the University of
Texas in Houston, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident in 1998-1999.
Dr. Hardwick-Smith is an associate of the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of America and
is the first gynecologist in Houston to focus on cosmetic gynecology.
She is well known for her study of anesthesia for neonatal circumcision, which
was published in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1998 and received several awards. Her
other academic achievements include being honored as the Outstanding Chief Resident
in 1999 and an award for excellence in laparoscopic surgery in1998. She is on
staff at Memorial Hermann (obstetrics and gynecology) and St. Lukes Hospitals (gynecology
only) and is a clinical instructor at the University of Texas Medical School.
In December 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, Dr. Hardwick-Smith was one of only
several Ob/Gyns in the Medical Center to be honored as a “Texas Superdoctor” in
Texas Monthly magazine.
She was also honored in H Texas magazine as one of Houston’s “Top
Doctors for Women” in 2006, 2007 and 2008, as well as Houston’s
“Top Doctors” in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
In December 2006 she was nominated for “Physician
of the Year” at Memorial Hermann Hospital and in January 2009 Dr. Hardwick-Smith received a “Patients’ Choice Award “ from online patient reviews by MDx Medical.
Dr. Hardwick-Smith is an experienced marathon runner and enjoys jogging, gardening
and spending time with her husband, her young son and twin daughters when she
is not at the office.
